PROGRAMME AIM

    The MSc Airline and Airport Corporate Management course aims to equip students with corporate understanding of airports and airlines as they evolve in the 21st century. This also includes key areas such as sustainability, e-commerce and safety. It aims to develop critically informed, innovative and professionally capable graduates who can respond effectively to the strategic, operational and corporate challenges facing the global aviation industry.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

  • Demonstrate confidence, resilience, ambition and creativity and will act as inclusive, collaborative and socially responsible professionals in their discipline
  • Have the confidence needed to take leadership decisions in challenging, complex and unpredictable situations
  • Demonstrate extensive communication skills that will help them adopt a global and multicultural perspective in their professional context
  • Be critically cognisant of the effects of the social and environmental of their decisions and will remain active citizens of the places they live and work
  • Demonstrate application and ability to reflect on creative thinking to practical problems, and possess the analytical and organizational skills to translate creative ideas to operational solutions

  • Critically assess the areas of underpinning aviation strategies, regulations and corporate responsibility including, evolving safety threats and practises together with concepts of sustainability
  • Appraise various corporate, operational and financial strategies employed in both airlines and airports that are vital to the long-term viability of the industry
  • Investigate and evaluate appropriate research paradigms, philosophies and methods to propose a detailed research or consultancy proposal followed by an extensive post-graduate dissertation. Analytical skills, evaluation and synthesis in dealing with a business environment challenge

Module

  1. CA7009SR – Strategic Aviation Management and Operations

    This module introduces students to core strategic management concepts within the commercial airline and airport sectors. It explores external environmental analysis, competitive advantage, ownership structures, regulatory dynamics and strategic decision-making across different international contexts. Students will examine a range of theoretical and operational perspectives, apply academic theories to work-based management issues, and reflect on current practice to support their future leadership and management development.

  2. CA7013SR – Sustainability in Global Companies

    This module introduces students to the growing impact of sustainability on businesses and organisations, with particular relevance to airlines and airports. It examines economic, environmental and social responsibilities, government policies, international agreements and the need for organisations to operate within ecological and socio-economic limits. Students will also explore how business practices must evolve in response to sustainability challenges, with particular emphasis on sustainability reporting and reporting standards.

  3. CA7012SR – Safety Management Systems in Aviation

    This module introduces students to safety management systems within the aviation industry, including safety risk management, hazard identification, safety assurance, safety culture and emergency response procedures. The module also develops practical skills in implementing safety management systems, assessing risks, evaluating mitigation measures and analysing aviation accidents using recognised causation models.

  4. CA7010SR – E Commerce Strategy for Aviation

    This module introduces students to the role of e-commerce and digital technologies in aviation management. It examines how internet-based booking, sales and marketing platforms have transformed the relationship between airlines, airports, consumers and travel intermediaries. Students will also explore how new airline and airport business models use e-commerce strategically and how legacy carriers are adapting to changing digital sales and distribution practices.

  5. CA7011SR – Aviation Finance and Forecasting

    This module introduces students to the management of airline costs, revenues and profitability as essential components of commercial aviation management. It examines the financial challenges faced by airlines and airports, including volatile operating costs, external market shocks and negative financial exposure. Students will also explore financial planning, long-term profitability and the use of available data to forecast travel demand.

  6. MN7000SR – Leading and Developing People

    This module introduces students to the principles of managing and leading people within complex international and digitally enabled organisations. It examines the roles of managers and leaders in creating productive workplace cultures, motivating and developing employees, and building high-performance teams. Students will also reflect on their own leadership capabilities and explore how to manage workplace change effectively.

  7. FE7P64SR – Dissertation

    This module provides students with the opportunity to undertake an independent research project related to their programme of study. Students will investigate a selected topic, apply appropriate research and data analysis methods, and critically examine relevant theory, policy and practice.

Entry requirements

Minimum Age 20 Years Old
Academic qualification
    1. A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in Aviation, Tourism, or Business-related subject area from the UK or recognised international university or equivalent international qualification;(OR)
    2. Post-Graduate Diploma in a relevant subject(OR)
    3. Professionals working within the Aviation industry but without an undergraduate degree, with a minimum of 2 years of working experience at a managerial level in a related field, supported with two letters of reference and a CV; (OR)
    4. Non-standard applicants without formal qualifications and no working experience in the Aviation industry, but have a minimum of 5 years of working experience, including 2 years at a managerial level in other industries, where applicants can demonstrate clear potential to operate at postgraduate level and benefit from the opportunity will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
    5. Applicants with any other non-standard qualifications may apply but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and may be invited for interview by the London Metropolitan University. All Applicants are required to submit a Personal Statement, an up-to-date CV, and copies of awards/professional qualifications for the application.
Language proficiency requirement Any of the following:
    1. English Language at GCE O-level at grade C or above; (OR)
    2. IELTS score of 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5 (or equivalent); (OR)
    3. Pearson Test of English Academic with a minimum score of 59 in each element (only in-person Pearson Test of English (PTE) is accepted, not the online version); (OR)
    4. Cambridge Certification in Advanced English (CAE) with Grade C or above; (OR)
    5. Completed Stanfort Academy Certificate in English for Foreign Students (Advanced Level); (OR)
    6. Obtained at least 80% for Stanfort Academy English Proficiency Test

Assessment:

London Metropolitan University (London Met) authorises and approves Stanfort Academy to deliver and assess part or all of the course. This course is also taught and assessed at London Met's main campus in London, United Kingdom. London Met holds direct responsibility for quality assurance, curriculum content, and the teaching, learning and assessment strategy.

Marking and grades:

Each component of assessed work is assigned a percentage mark with a pass/fail threshold at 50%. Overall average mark obtained for all modules and the dissertation, with classification thresholds for each grade of award as follows:
  • 70% and above: Distinction
  • 60% – 69%: Merit
  • 50% – 59%: Pass
  • 0% – 49%: Fail
    At the end of each semester, the provisional module results will be announced via student portal at Stanfort Academy website and final module results will be released by the University Evision portal.

Award Titles:

At postgraduate level degrees are awarded according to the overall average mark obtained for all modules and the dissertation, with classification thresholds for each grade of award as follows:
  • 70% and above Masters degree with Distinction
  • 60% - 69.99% Masters degree with Merit
  • 50% - 59.99% Masters degree
  • 0% - 49.99% Fail
    At the end of each semester, module results and awards are confirmed by Assessment Boards (Subject Standards Boards and Awards Boards). Assessment Boards uphold the academic standards of your course and ensure that each student is treated fairly and equally through the assessment process.
